Problem with Neighbors Dog

Rammy do I understand correctly that your fence is 5 feet from the boundary line??

I sure hope not.
That becomes a legal issue. In which your neighbor can claim that portion of "your" property for their own. If they go to sell their property it can be listed in the description, even if you have done the survey.
I would put the fence right on that line!


As for the other neighbor watching you I would call the police and report him as a peeping tom. What he is doing is a form of harrassment.
If you can set up a game camera pointing out in the street to where he sits in his car.

Most of the fence is off only a foot. I was being nice. I should of put it on the line. Where the dog house is its about five feet. I wanted to save some money by not moving that corner. Everyone I talked to said keep it off a little so it wont be considered community property. It would cost me too much to have it moved to the line now. Thats why Im considering putting up a privacy fence there. It would be cheaper and I can say, well, you said my fence is ugly so this way you wont have to look at it. Plus, it will keep nosey neighbor from eyeballing me when Im in the yard. I wont be able to afford it til next spring and thats not far. I'll probably have to deal with rocks in the yard again, but as I said, the pool is within throwing distance.

Or, I thought about trees, but they would either pull them up, kill them somehow, or the dog will kill them by peeing on them. Privacy fence, Im sure they will damage in some way, but theres always court.

I think after I posted this, and it was my intention to do it this year but I chickened out, was to have the fence people come back out and move that corner closer to the line. I think that shouldnt be too costly. I may have them come out and give me an estimate and just tell them I reconsidered. If the neighbors ask why, I'll just say well my lawyer said I should so you cant claim it or something like that. I'll have to deal with crap for a while, but I will just let the lawyer handle it. They get mad, they get mad. I wont be a prisoner in my own home.

Oooh!!OOoh! I know what I'll say about moving the fence. I'll say, I just didnt like it being further off than the rest of the fence and I want it to match. Can you get your dog house off my property please? I'll have the fence people put it like three inches off. It will still legally be on my side and they cant hook up a fence to it if they put one up, which I doubt. I should of done it in the first place instead of listening to everyone else.

They will probably come over when you are putting up the fence and give you a hard time... just IGNORE them. Dont argue with them..
Just keep working and get that fence up.
As for moving the dog house.... what are you going to do if they refuse to move it?

The whole fence should be at the boundary. Either right atop it, or immediately on your side, so that the back side of the fence touches the boundary. Otherwise, you are all but giving them the property that you fenced out, and after a number of years, they can claim adverse possession. By allowing the doghouse to remain, you are helping them build that adverse possession claim.

Moving the fence (or even just part) should not be as expensive as putting in a new one, as it is almost labor only (assuming that fencing and posts can be reused).

Oh oh maybe get one and blow it each time you go outside so he knows you are out there.

We know about neighbors and fences. The former neighbor had his cows along one of our fences and the cows tore it down to get into our ungrazed pasture.
They got them out and DH fixed the fence. He had already gone over it that spring, about 2 months before.
2 days later the cows did it again. This time they broke several pressure treated fence posts.
Neighbor was called again and told to fix it.
He hemmed and hawed, but was told to fix it our we would hire it out and send him a bill.
They fixed it.
but to get us back they would run their dirt bikes near our horses. Made the horses jumpy.
They got caught tresspassing and stopped what they were doing because they knew they were in the wrong.
Tried to accuse us of stealing a calf once too. Idiots found it under a piece of farm equipment where it had rolled to and gotten stuck.
Glad they are gone.

I would move the fence too. If they come out(mine did) just say," I am moving the fence to the line,do you want the dog house or not?"

I kept my fence line straight along the boundary. I liked the straight fence line better.I have read of people putting a fence in a few feet if they have wood fences,but they always have issues with the neighbors using the land all the way up to the fence. If your local laws permit the fence near the line that is better.

My one neigbor had about 50 feet of wood fence installed to block out the renters next door.The same day the fence was installed the renters attached a wooden gate to the fence to enclose their side.Lol,the neighbor was mad,but I don't think he took off the gate.I would cut anything attached to my fence not wait for them to remove it.


If they don't come out just have someone help you move it to their yard.

I planted bamboo,but until that grows in I plant a few lines of corn(that grow 12 feet high) to block views.Lol, I have patches of corn strategically grown all over my yard,because I am in a major *fish bowl*.In a pinch you can put posts or poles in the ground and attach any type of fabric to it. Another option is a cloths line and keep some sheets hanging on the last line to block views.

Hopefully your neighbors will move and you will get someone nicer.
