Hi! So my little Porcelain boy Napoleon died of a mysterious illness a week ago, and I was devastated. Not only was he a wonderful protector and beautiful, I was planning on hatching more DUccle eggs with his mate, a Mille Fluer. So far she hasn’t been laying, but my bator is ready to go. I am aware she will remain fertile for some time still, up to 30 days, but I fear she won’t lay a clutch in time.
I have Napoleon and Edna Maes son, he is nearly a year old. Would it be a problem to breed him to Edna Mae? I fear it would cause health problems for the offspring, and it just feels wrong, but it would be a way to get hatching eggs. What are you guys thoughts on this?
A note, I wouldn’t want to spend the money on shipping hatching eggs to myself, for I have a very small bator.

As far as I am aware, inbreeding doesn't become a problem in chickens until several generations later. So as long as you breed the chicks to chickens with other genetics (if you breed them at all), it should be okay. However, I am not the biggest expert on this, just repeating what I've heard.

No probs, inbreeding is common with chickens. You already have some genetic diversity by them being two different breeds. Look up line breeding chickens.
When questioned I always say just think about it, (for one chickens are not humans) how far do animals, deer, turkeys etc in the wild travel for a mate? They don't go to the next county to find one unrelated.

That’s a really good answer, I’ve never really considered that! Make sense
