Problems with Chicken Eggs

I know for a fact that they are not caged. They live in the country and have a large coop with indoor and outdoor runs.

The other thought was that maybe the chickens are getting old?

Sounds like old eggs that have been lying around. If the hens don't lay in nests in a coop and just lay all over the place, then when the owners find them, who knows how old they are. Just guessing though.

Also, when hens get ill, they often stop laying.
If you manage to get a photo of one of the eggs, that would be helpful.
Usually egg problems to do with the hen are shell related. Still wondering if it's storage.

Here are a couple pictures I just took. The first one the yolk is stuck in the egg. The 2nd picture feels like an empty egg shell.

My friends wouldn't do that knowingly. They collect the eggs every day. We have gotten eggs from them other years, and have never had this issue.

Maybe the hens are hiding the eggs and they are just finding them late, like @BigBlueHen53 said?
