I am a little desperate at this point. the last three peeps to hatch have leg problems. one has two splay legs and two have one splay leg. i tried the bandaid thing . but they either flog around or are just sitting on their hocks they dont try to stand.. i just dont know what to do. I wonder if they need hobbled at the top of the leg also. please any help would be appreciated. They probably wont make it , but i would like to give them all the help i can. Thank you donna

hi...yes do hobble them with the bandaids. At first they sit on their hocks and it will take them a bit to figure out how to balance. You may have to frequently turn them back over from their back so check often. If there are a lot of other fast moving chicks in with them that may hinder them learning to balance (maybe separate the 3 until they are on their feet).
The one with 2 splayed legs hobble it and try placing it in a shot glass. It will ...lol...make the chicky a bit upset but will force it to use those legs as it hops up and down trying to get out, thus
exercise those weak legs. Maybe do the shot glass treatment for 1/2 hour and then take it out and let it rest and then do it again. Please but sure they are able to drink and eat even if you have to assist.

I used a piece of yarn. It is hard to do, but I tied one end around one leg (loose) then left a little and tied the other end around the other leg and it worked fine. You may have to have someone hold the little guy while you hobble him.

oh my gosh i taped the one with splayed legs for the day and she has been rearing herself up and walking on her hocks with her legs sticking up in front of her, which has made them sore. i have paper towel in a smaller box and now just put puff tissues in as it is softer. . I feel awful she seems such a fighter. what do you think about the orthopedic chair thing they make out of containers and hobbling her also. I just feel terrible. I have nutri drench nutritional advantage for all of them, but of course the three little cripples dont seem to want to touch it. Please any suggestions are welcome. thank you for your replies Donna
