Processing Day Support Group ~ HELP us through the Emotions PLEASE!

Here's a link to lash eggs. In the article you will see a response from a vet. Assuming the vet knows what he is talking about, there might have been hope for your hen. Don't be too hard on yourself for grasping at straws trying to save a favorite hen.

This thing was huge. I've been massaging her abdomen daily, to see if I could move it along, but it was way too big to move by the time I figured out she had a problem.

Perhaps her gizzard was the original issue, or maybe even her stomach.. She was really thin by the end of it all. She wasn't eating mash or crumble, but she was eating greens and scrambled eggs.

Not that it made any difference in this case, but I would be inclined to not massage when she had a mass in her belly. I suspect you can cause more problems than your are likely to fix.

I doubt it was her digestive tract. She probably had some sort of peritonitis. Infections in birds (and reptiles) look really different from infections in mammals. They have a dry cheesy consistency to them (per my avian vet).

Had a surreal moment at my house today. Today was freezer camp day for a few young roos. I do everything in the house and garage. Gary turned on Pandora (tv radio) for me while I worked. So some of the boys were sent over the bridge to Disany musical music. Pretty sure that is how psycho's are made!

Schizophrenia is the first mental disease that has a proven genetic component. I think it was three gene sequences and they now have a saliva test for it. A small percentage of them become violent.

Disney music while processing, while a bit odd maybe, will not turn someone into a psycho.

Lol, a very silence of the lambs moment. I am sure they appreciated the music.

This is completely off topic but am hoping someone here might have some insight--I really don't know where to ask.

This morning while tending the chickens with my parrots flying, I heard a sound I've never heard before. It was a crack like a small dry branch being snapped followed by a whistling sound. My parrots reacted with alarm, flying off and yelling.

My son has a compound bow for target practice, but it wasn't anything like that. I listened to a cross bow demonstration on YouTube, and it didn't seem right.

Any thoughts?

It could still be a bow and arrow noise. If the archer is using a clip release, the snap might be from that.

Thanks. Do arrows (for killing deer) make a fairly loud whistling sound? Hunting isn't allowed in the neighborhood (two to five acre lots in the country). A few of my neighbors feed the deer so we are overrun with runty, starving deer. A big buck showed up a few weeks ago, big, round and fat with a large rack of antlers. He's beautiful, but I'm not happy to have a big buck in my yard all the time--rutting season no less--thanks to my neighbors' deer feeder.
