Production Reds

I have 3 PRs and I love all of them. Amazing layers and Lacey, our first PR is a shoulder loving bird. The first day I had her she jumped up next to me then proceeded to my shoulder like a parrot. Never had any problems with any of them. They are sweet as can be!!

Lost one of mine yesterday, down to 5 of them.
I have 35 of their eggs incubating now. Crossed them with my Blue-Tailed Red (whatever you want to call him) rooster. He is Easter Egger x Naked Neck.

My breeder is into genetics and says the neckers are a dominant gene. I would be interested to know how many come out that way!! Please post when you know!!

Also sorry about your loss. It is always sad to lose a pet. hugs

Actually he came out looking like an Easter Egger, didn't get the naked neck. According to the experts he will not produce naked neck unless bred to Naked Necks and then only 50% of the time. I will post some pictures when they hatch. I'm looking for and keeping the peacombed ones, and hopefully the ones (if they turn outt that way) ,the ones that turn out blue-tailed and red.

Here's one:

This is the best one that I have right now. He's even prettier now. I'll have to get more pictures.
His beard is blue, his tail is blue and he has a few blue feathers in his wings on the bottom feathers. Picture a RIR where it has black in tails and other places and replace the coloring with blue.

Oh I love him. He is so beautiful. I do love that blue. Looks so nice against the red tones.

I have about 20 production red pullets. 2 have gone broody and one sat on eggs for two weeks and then decided she was done lol. They hatched in the incubator so she did pretty good. Mine aren't mean and are tame. They will fly in the car if the door is left open! I had a rooster as well and he wasn't mean either. I hatched a couple of RIR eggs from a breeder and the RIR pullet looks the same as the production reds....not like RIR are supposed to. I haven't noticed brittle feathers, so I think it just depends on where you get them and how they are raised?
