PRODUCTION Toulouse Geese Thread!!

I started with two ducks last Spring, and I loved them and miss them dearly, but I like geese sooooo much better. They have way more personality, and theyre so much smarter! I love all birds but I don't think I will ever own ducks again.

I have three goslings wait listed from Ideal Poultry, they'll ship March 4, 2015! Buff male, Embden male, and a Pomeranian female. Going to call tonight and change that buff to a female. Hopefully Pear has some fertile eggs this spring becauase my grandma wants her gozzies and I don't want any inbreeding going on between them. Are you all planning on getting more geese come spring?
I am really wanting to get more but I have committed to this Cayuga breeding effort. We will see how that goes and if I can manage to make space, pen wise, for more geese. I love my Toulouse trio but I see so many nice looking geese pictures that I would like to also have. I would love some Sebastopol, some Chinese and some Embdens. And you are right, they have such personalities and they are so much more calm than ducks. Of course I have not had to deal with my gander during breeding season yet...that should be an experience worth a video. I could easily manage about 20-30 geese on this little bit of property I have if I could manage the housing for them. We shall see I suppose. God only knows what my future holds.

I live on a little more than an acre, but only a bit is fenced in. I could probably fit 4-6 geese in the space that's fenced in, but I want more than that! My boyfriend owns two farms with ponds and he's offered to let me keep them there during college, but I don't trust anyone to take care of them.

Had to run out to the car this morning and the geese were very curious! Thought they looked pretty! Pear is starting to fill out really well, how big are your production toulouse? How old? Pear is 5.5 months now.

They look great. Mine will be 6 months the 29th of this month and Babe my young Toulouse is huge. I'll get pics today, Missy my 2.5 yr old has filled out nicely for winter too.

Of course I have to put my two cents worth in. My three are 8 1/2 months old now and are about as fine as a Toulouse can be. They are, top to bottom, Sting, Lydia and Pauline.

Ain't they precious?
