PROFESSIONALLY Photograph your chicks for under $2.00!

What great ideas you guys have! While I haven't photographed any of my critters yet

I do have one tip to share for a reflector. I've always bought the silver car windshield reflectors at the dollar store. For a large one, just cut a piece of cardboard & coat with white glue then wrap the windshield reflector around it and let dry. Of course you can cut it to any size at all, and I've even used a stapler to fasten it to the cardboard. (I got this trick off a photography chat board) It's practically the same material as commercial reflectors, but so much cheaper! You can also use a piece of white foam core board to reflect light. Very cheap, and available at any art supply store.

I would be more inclined to use parchment paper. For sure you can use it in the oven so the light wouldn't burn it.

Diffusion of the light is really the key element to taking better pictures. Try covering the hole in the box with a white cotton material and suspend the light just above the box so that the hot bulb does not touch it. Or try some translucent Lucite. Anything that will diffuse the light will work.

Wow, awesome tips and great box idea! And here I was using the Ebay photo table and natural lighting. I need a box, set on the Ebay table, utilizing the lighting behind, above, and from behind... diffused... need to start scrounging through the fabric box for colors for each chick!
