Hello all! We are new to chickens and I'm having trouble getting them to go into the coop at night. I'm wondering if I need to put in a light inside, so they can see to go in? The problem is we haven't run electric to the coop yet. I'm wondering if there is a solar or battery powered light that I can program to turn on and off at certain times? I installed an omlet door, with the coop light, but I don't think that is bright enough. The coop is 8'x12'.

Photos of your set up? I personally believe in using natural lighting vs. artificial - if the coop has enough ventilation it shouldn't be so dark inside that the birds can't navigate. Also does the coop have a ramp, and if yes, have you trained them to use it? Do the birds go inside at all on their own during the day?
