Progress on the new 16' x 24' building?

That is a BIG coop! But not only that- it looks amazing!! You did indeed build this thing solid!! I can't say enough about how impressed I am with this! Great job, great job!

I'll get more pics soon... this weekend I managed to get 4 gal of paint on the walls...
I wanted linoleum on the floor but i just don't think the budget can handle it... so the paint job might have to do for now. All the walls are insulated but not the ceiling... I may do something simple like 1" foam board BUT again ... it may be a budget issue and I could easily do the ceiling later after I see how warm it stays through this winter. The building will have 100 amp electrical service so heat lamps won't be a problem and I wired outlets everywhere I could imagine I might need them.
I really just need this building done... the ISA Brown pullets are laying sooner and better than I projected (45 hens gave me 39 eggs yesterday). I need them moved into their new building asap and I need the egg washing station set up. I have been carrying the eggs to the "wifeys kitchen" and trying to work around her cooking dinner for much to long.
Don't get me wrong I am thankful for the eggs... I just hoped to be done with this building by now...
May God give me strength...Praise the Lord!

This is the new door I installed between the two room.... only primed it needs a coat of paint and I need to paint above the door now that its framed in.
Im down to the wire so this 60 ft of roost was put together quickly. I built them by the hinge method so they could be lifted up for cleaning underneath but there is also easy access from the end that I can almost stand up straight under. Calculating 8 per bird I should be able to get about 90 chickens max but I plan on keeping less than 80 at a time.

I love your coop. It is so spacious. Looks like a house to me. Great job. I wish I had enough room to build that large of a coop.

The cleaning Room is coming together well... This is the egg cleaning station. I placed it at about desk height so I could pull a chair up to was eggs rather than stand.
I used some old junk mismatched flooring on the floor and just painted it(still need a little to finish the other side).
Nest boxes are done... I wanted to do an outside nest box but wanted to keep the eggs as warm as possible through the winter months so I chose the interior wall. Papaws little helper was with me this evening
From the beginning I planned on investing in one of these sinks for cleaning waterers and feeders to keep that away from the food sink and just last month some gave me this sink... Praise the Lord!
I am hoping with all the insulation this little heater will keep this room warm enough in the winter to wash eggs.

Update:
The cleaning room is pretty much completed and is now being used daily. Praise the Lord! The design of this new building with the cleaning room has been a great blessing. The idea is that we can walk into the cleaning room and let it be homebase for carrying out daily chores associated with the raising the chickens. No longer do I have to carry 50 eggs across the yard and into the family kitchen to be cleaning and stored each day but rather most everything that needs to be done can be carried out from the new room.
With about 65 chickens we refill two 3 gal water cans daily. This is so much easier now than last year. Separate from the egg cleaning sink I have installed a large square utility sink in the cleaning room next to the door that goes into the chicken house. The waterers are just 5 steps away from the utility sink in the heated room so it is quick and easy to have nice clean water everyday.
Also feeding is simplified as the feed is kept on the other side of the door in the cleaning room again just 5 steps away and the feeding is done. By storing the feed in the new room it is fast and always clean and protected from pests. No more picking up a bag that the chicken have pooped on.
Although I wanted access to the nest from outside the chicken house, I instead opted to just build the old traditional nests inside. We have all of the nests in one area built along an interior wall to prevent freezing. The nests also have an additional seam of 3 1/2 insulation along the bottom row sealed between the nest boxes and the floor. Dealing with eggs has been one of the most valuable changes in this whole project. I can take a basket in to gather the eggs and then walk into the other room, put them in the sink wash and sanitize the eggs laying them on the counter to dry. The egg washing sink is stainless steel with hot and cold water and plenty of counter on each side making this a quick and easy task.
During cold weather we keep an oil filled electric heater running on low to maintain at least 45 deg even in the coldest weather. If I plan to spend much time in the cleaning room I will build a fire in the wood burning stove. I have a small table for filling and labeling cartons and a refrigerator right across from the sink. Having a setup designed to be efficient makes this whole project so much more enjoyable.
Perfect spot to hide away for Bible study time as well
