Progression of my first hatch!

put it in a small closet in a stable enough room in the house where the room temperature holds steady a little better, that is what I did with mine, it still fluctuates a little but not as much as it did when I had it in a larger room.

How long once it's at the right temperature should I wait to put eggs in? I have had this for almost a weeks and still no eggs in the bator!

if it is now at a good temp as long as the eggs have been kept at room temperature for 8 + hours they can go in right away, get on it! lol before you burst with anticipation and excitement! yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wee hee!!!!!!!!!

Even the cabinet style bators need a consistent temperature to run correctly. Good idea to bring it in. I would let it run for 24 hours to ensure the temp/humidity is stable before adding eggs.

Okay do I want the probe in the baggie of water to read 99.5 or the temp inside the bator? It's 97.5 inside the probe, 100.7 inside the bator. What do I do, only 1 of my thermometers have a outside probe to put in it.

Okay it is still 100.7 in the bator and 97.5 in the water cup. Did I use too much water maybe? Do I need to turn the bator up? How much water should I have put in the baggie with water? I filled it up about halfway, maybe a little less. I am still learning all this hatching stuff!

Are they not suppose to read different, even with one in my makeshift water wiggler? Now they read 100.4 and 98.4. My other one reads 100.6 so close to the other. My first one is a digital indoor/outdoor acurite and the outdoor probe is in the water wiggler. I don't know where my oral thermometer is, my kids always run off with it, but I will add one to my shopping list for sure. I just put mu makeshift water wiggler in the bator a few hours ago so maybe it will warm up to the right temp, but does that mean that I should turn down the bator?

Oh gosh I am in the same exact boat as you. I just posted on the 4 therms, 4 temps thread....!

I use a snack-sized Ziploc half filled w/ water, air pushed out, and folded in half over the probe and taped with masking tape!!?

AND I also used Twigg's suggestion of molding a modeling clay egg and testing my thermometer probe alongside a medi thermometer (which I had to run out and buy since MY kids burnt out the battery in the other!) And found my thermometer's accuracy BUT the temps in the "ziploc wiggler" vs. the clay AND vs. the air temps are all wildly different.

It will be a miracle if I hatch even one of shortcake's beautiful Delaware eggs... boo hoo
