Prolapse. Please help

I understand the concept, I could use a dishpan type container. I just don't know to only get her vent area in the salt water less I fill up the bathtub enough to cover her vent. (?) is that what you mean? You've helped me so much in the past couple years. I apologize for sounding ignorant. Just trying to understand and help my girl.

Okay. I understand. That's what I was doing. The first time I cleaned her I blow dried her. The prolapse was back in so I wasn't drying any tissue. She actually stood there and enjoyed it. Thanks. I will do that today.

Another question. You had mentioned that I should keep her in a darkened room for all but 8 hours of the day. So leaving a light on for her that amount of time won't stimulate her to lay? I hate keeping her in the dark 24 hours.

Yes she can be out in the light for 8 hours a day. It takes a couple of days to cease egg laying, but since chickens require around 12 hours of daylight each day to keep laying, just keep her cage dark from, say, 4 PM to 8 AM each night.

Vent looks better tonight. Bath and Epsom salt. Honey after. How long should I expect to keep her inside? Can I give her a scrambled egg twice a day or is that too much protein?

I would give her chicken feed if she is eating it. Eggs, to my knowledge are about 13% protein, and it would be okay to give some each day, but her feed is more well balanced at 16% with all of the vitamins and minerals. It is good to decrease the amount of feed or the protein per day to help stop laying.

But not layer feed, to prevent laying? And how long inside. Until the vent looks normal again?
Layer feed is fine, it just has more calcium in it. The calcium won't make her lay. When she is healed, and you are no longer keeping her in the dark, she will probably take a couple of weeks to start back laying again. Prolapses are likely to happen again in some chickens.
