I’ve already taken my hen to the vet, had the egg removed and I am taking her on the steps to recovery.. the last thing for her to heal from is the prolapse. My question is, I don’t know for sure if she is eating or not so I was wondering if she’s pooping does that mean she’s eating? Her crop feels as if it is full constantly, and she is still pooping quite a bit. Is there any way to know for sure that she is eating?

Do you have this hen in a hospital crate so you can observe her recovery? If not, fix up something like this so you can see if she's eating and drinking and what her poop looks like.

If the egg has been removed, the prolapse should have retracted. If the prolapse is still ongoing, it means she still has something obstructing the oviduct, perhaps another eggs, a soft one.

Is the prolapse still hanging out? Did the vet make any incisions in her to remove the egg? That will affect what advice we can give you. You may be better off consulting your vet on this.

When one of our girls had this, we separated her in a dog kennel. I mixed some pellets with water to make mush, which for some reason is a delicacy.

Is she holding everything in? Ours didn't hold everything in for 8 days due to swelling. I would recommend raw honey to reduce swelling after soaking in warm Epsom salt bath. I also, after many days of this, was trying all kinds of things to help her hold things in instead of pushing. One trick that worked great for pucker factor was to rub an ice cube around her vent for a few seconds every 30 seconds. This changed her muscle contractions from pushing to puckering, which I think made the difference. Don't give up on her as this is often not a quick fix!
