Hi all!
Back in March I got some new hens that hatched last November, making them 8 months old now! I got two gold dutch bantams and two polish bantams. One of my dutch bantams, Gertrude, has a prolapsed vent. I noticed this last night before putting the flock to bed. Her butt was covered in this white stuff and there was a little pink/red bulge sticking out of her vent. I did some research on here, took her home, gave her a nice warm bath, cleaned her up, used some leucillin spray (an antibacterial/antiseptic spray) and gently pushed it back in. However, this morning it was back out so I repeated what I did last night. I've gone back to check on her this evening and it's back out again. So once again I cleaned her, used the spray and pushed it back in, however it came out again after a few minutes. I'm going to get some hemorrhoid cream and Vaseline tomorrow as I heard this will help, but is there anything I can do? Compared to images I've seen on here, hers doesn't look so bad as there's not a lot that has come out, but is that because she's a bantam and she is so small? What else can I do to help her? What are the chances of survival?

You could give her a human calcium tablet about 200 mg or half a Tums orally to increase muscle contractions. Keep the prolapse tissue from drying out with cream, ointment or honey. It may take a few days for the prolapse to go in or stay in.
