Prolapsed vent suggestions please

Have you tried mixing her feed with some water, to soften it up? I find mine much prefer it this way.
I actually just did this a little bit ago. I was thinking that maybe she preferred the peas cuz they were cold and soft and mushy since I'd imagine she was intubated and that's gonna cause a sore throat and the dry food might not be that appealing.

Well it's been 24 hours since I brought her home. She's drinking and pooping. Appears alert. Still really only eating the peas but I just mixed some food in water so maybe that will help.
If she doesn't go for that I might just give her free access to whatever treats she wants since I figure mealworms and peas are better than nothing. Maybe I should make her an egg? Watermelon or zucchini? I might go pick some dandelion leaves too for her that's one of their favorites. It does worry me that she's not eating much.
I brought my drake in for a little bit so she'd have a friend he was very excited to see his sweetheart and she was happy too. She definitely perked up while he was there and although she didn't eat anything other than the peas she did drink more water and sort of rut around in the food dish. I did have to take him out because he started flirting a bit and I didn't want him to get too frisky.

The vet said I should keep her separate from the others Incase the pick on her but I'm wondering if it would be best to get a roommate while she heals to keep her company. I feel like it would significantly reduce the stress which would help her heal faster? Darla might be a good match since those two get along very well and Darla is pretty non-confrontational with everyone probs because she's the smallest. The only problem with Darla is they lay the same colored eggs so I wouldn't know who was laying if I found one and the vet said shouldn't eat the eggs for 2 months after ending the meds. I'd love to have Toke, my drake, with her since he absolutely fawns over her but I know at some point he would eventually try to mate with her and Im not going to risk her getting hurt accidentally by him.

She will be moving into a makeshift pen in the basement either tonight or tomorrow so she will have a bit more room to stretch out and have room for a friend if I go that route.

I wanted to get a picture of her stitches so I could check on it from time to time but she again flipped out when I touched near where it was and I couldn't see anything cuz her feathers were in the way so I never even got a look at it. Poor thing was shaking she was either so scared or hurt by me trying to look. I gave up immediately on trying to see it. So I'm not sure how I'll know if it's healing well... I was thinking of spraying it with vetericyn but that probs won't happen now either.

Anyways I'll keep posting about her progress Incase anyone is interested. I'll probably call both my regular vet and the emergency vet I took her too to ask about the roommate situate

For eating, I would definitely try an egg.
You can also fill a small bowl with water, and throw some veggies and pelleted feed on top. My ducks go nuts for it. Try some boiled rice too, that isn’t sufficient feed long term, but it will at least put something in her crop. Or better yet, boiled sorghum. Sorghum is a feed ingredient and may have more nutritional value than rice.
I think greens are a great idea too.

Assuming she’s in pain meds?

Update12:30 pm about 2 full days after surgery - Kevin was quacking her head off at sunrise. I took that as a good sign since the day before she was only making small soft quacks. Outside of being a bit quieter she seems to be her normals self - alert and sassy. Moved her to the makeshift pen in the basement she will have more room to move around and so it should be quieter and dryer for her.
I thought I would try introducing Darla today initially it seemed fine. Darla was obviously stressed but Kevin seemed a bit happier. Lots of tail wags and happy noises. After a little bit however they got into a little scruff, Honestly I think Kevin started it. I separated them immediately. It was strange because those two normally get along really well. I feel Like Kevin wasn't in the mood to deal with Darla stressing out because she was panicking at everything. Either way, it was clearly not a good idea so she is back by herself.

She still isn't eating a lot. She eats but not a ton and again it only seems to be treats. I'm not sure if I should be worried at this point or not? Idk how ducks recover/do post surgery (if you have any personal experience that would be appreciated)

I did put electrolytes and some nutridrench in her water to try and keep her as healthy and hydrated as possible.

She's being a stinker about taking her antibiotics and painkillers but I'm managing to get most of it in her.
