I'm sure there's a few threads on this but they didn't turn up w/ a search.

What's every one keeping for strictly egg layers.

I like Standard because of the larger eggs.

I have Sex-links, RIR and white leghorns that are eggcelent egg layers. My Australorps are also but they are considered a dual purpose breed.

I've been thinking I'd want to get standard for the larger eggs, but feed per egg it seems the bantams might be a good deal.

Bantams are wonderful. I think you are right about the feed per egg deal also. You just need to decide if you want to spend more on feed for larger eggs or use more smaller eggs when eating/baking?

I used to have a few bantams. I got tired of having to use 2 of their eggs to equal one regular large egg. It may cost less per bantam egg, but I'm not sure you come out ahead when it takes 2 of theirs to equal 1.

I didn't see Delawares in that list they say they lay prolificly, and are very large eggs. Did you see them? Jean

I've got prolific egg layers but they haven't read the book that says they are. Just feeding and waiting
