That auction is still open, so the price could go higher. On the silkie club forum there was some speculation as to its legitimacy: not a well-known breeder, but also nothing negative to say--simply an unknown person.

Other silkies have sold for more: a couple of years or so ago a PET QUALITY silkie sold for 4 figures!
