I received a mixed shipment from ThreeBoysChicks (in Maryland) for the March Egg Swap. I received 15 eggs total;

9 buff orp
3 Ameracauna
3 RIR

As of right now, 6 hours into day 22, I have the following results

Buff Orp - 9 for 9 hatched

Ameracauna - 3 for 3 hatched

RIR - 2 for 3 (so far) have hatched. I might lose one who has bled a little.

BUT, hatching 14 of 15 shipped eggs!!?? Pretty good for me even if I were hatching my own eggs!

Anyway....had to brag on my partner and the success I had with his eggs. They were packaged beautifully and apparently TLC along the way doesn't hurt.

Have a great evening!

EDITED TO SAY - Friday morning the other RIR chick hatched with a tiny bit of help from me (his wing was stuck to the membrane) so we had a 100% hatch on shipped eggs!!

That is great news, Scott! Congratulations! I think your experienced incubating skills just added to the sellers fresh egg shipment that was packaged so well !

I am hatching right now, also, and am having quite similar results. Mary, AKA The Warden, shipped me 6 Icelandic eggs. I currently have 4 pips, and 1 hatched. One egg I do not see any action yet. 5/6 would be fantastic! Mary packaged these precious eggs extremely well !

Wow, that's Great...I would love some tips, what kind of incubator did you use?? I have had 2 hatches and they didn't do so well...I'm going to give it another try tomorrow and this time I got a hygrometer to measure the moisture..it is about 45..what should it be?? I am seeing anywhere from 40-75...big difference there, and someone told me to take the red vent plugs out of the top of the incubator also...what do you think?

great hatch!!! My broodie is still sitting tight and on all the eggs. Lets see how she does? She will be due on the 12th of May. thanks again. Gloria Jean

I am using a Sportsman 1502. I use 2 hygrometers in mine (if they differ by more than a degree or 1-2 points on humidity then I know something is up)

I try to run humidity at 42-45% the first 18 days then bump it up to 68-70% the last three days. Now, I'm in Ga and that seems to work for me.....it could be different where you are (mtns, beach areas, desert, higher humidity, etc, etc)
