Pro's and Con's of a rooster?

FYI
I have heard (can't document this) that fertile eggs are healthier for you than non fertile.....I have a health food kind of friend who only wants to buy fertilized eggs...

I've got 10 hens for the 3 roosters (I'm getting 3 more from speakledhen tomorrow

) and the hens have no bald spots or sores, sometimes they lose a feather or two on their back close to their tail, but they really aren't roughed up at all.

I don't have a clue as to why my roo's don't seem to be as rough as everyone elses.

They aren't scared of anything when it comes to protecting the girls.
My barred rock put my SIL's black lab in the doggie hospital a couple of months ago for getting into the run.

Rooster Red.. I didnt raise my RIR myself... ( I do have 2 baby rir roos right now though that are all mine

)He dont even like to eat out of dishes he would rather peck off the ground. I have only had him about 4 or 5 mths. I think things were different for him before he came here. Hes gorgeous and I love him mean as he is...

I got my RIR about 3 months ago along with the buff orpington. They are about 1 1/2 years old.

The only one I raised is the barred rock.

My Production Red roo is very protective of his girls. The wife named him Lancalot. The name fits but he always misses the mark. LOL!! When it comes to protecting his girls though, he never misses. He' beat up every one of the wife's cats, our pitbull & our german shepperd that weighs 90lbs. Strange birds are quickly dispatched & thrown for food to his hens. LOL!! Now that is a sight to see. A big mean roo killing a sparrow & then telling the hens to "come & get it." They pick those birds to nothing in no time. He has even killed rabbits for his harem although he has taken a beating from some.
