PROSO Millet?

Usually Proso doesn't get nearly that tall. If it is millet, it will form heads. When the grain is ripe, it will turn golden brown, and you can harvest the seeds at that time. It is a nice treat for birds, but should not be used as the only feed source. It is not high enough in protein to be a main feed.

I don't know if what I grow is proso it is just millet found in bird seed that I buy at the feed store. It only gets foot high. I pick as soon as the seed heads start to turn or else lose all to wild birds. I just cut it down and put it in their run, they had fun picking it apart. Currently on second crop this year- it grew fast. Hope that helps.
