Providing water in the duck pen

What a controversial conversation again. Your only reading half of what I said..Mine do great. Yes then do need water to rinse out nares. Mine get fresh unfrozen water twice a day. Mine will go and free range for over an hour before they waddle back for a drink and go right back to drilling and eating for another hour. My point is they won't choke if they don't carry a bottle of water with them.

But mine couldnt go an hour without water while eating pellets. Is what iam saying
Mine are doing great with my frozen water and watering twice a day. I love my Ducks and they are healthy. I'm not with them 24 hours a day although I know they eat without thawed water because the bowls are empty..

I don't keep the food bowls next a water source, but they do have water available 24/7. Regarding the choking, they can eat too much too fast and choke to death, but so can other poultry. This is something I have witnessed. :(

Youve seen that? Crazy birds
Sadly I lost a young Muscovy this way, and have seen other types of poultry come close. FWIW, each time it happens is happens with crumbles, never pellets or grains.

That’s the key knowing what works for us and our birds . Mine are obsessed with water in their buckets in their pool in mud puddles and I do believe my Runners would choke to death if they didn’t have water 24/7 they don’t do anything slowed down including eating.
