proximity of coop to house?

Such speedy responses!
I was planning on four hens and no roosters. Fact is, even though my house is clean, flies fly in and out all summer as it is. Nothing new here. Mice? Ditto, they like to scout in the house, but I keep it boring for them. Maybe they'll scout the coop instead.
Zoning? This is sort of a remote area, and if the coop doesn't cause anyone problems, the District is unlikely to have anything to say. I have no neighbours to speak of, and those that I do have live in glass houses, so to speak. And I'm sure they'd enjoy a gift of fresh eggs. I don't carry house insurance, but I'm not sure what an insurance company would care about a coop, supposing I did.
I'll make the coop movable, just in case this great idea isn't so great. Thanks for your advice!

I have 30 chickens. My coop is a building that was on the property when we bought it. It is about 40 ft. from my bedroom window. I wouldn't want it any closer.

If you live in an arid climate, you probably won't have too many flies to begin with; however if you live in a humid or rainy-ish climate you may have a tough time keeping the fly population down to tolerable levels. At least expect to spend more time/expense/fiddling on run drainage and dryness than you would otherwise.

Aside from that and whether your zoning regularions permit it, it's a personal choice, if you really want to do it then sure

Good luck, have fun,
