Such speedy responses!
I was planning on four hens and no roosters. Fact is, even though my house is clean, flies fly in and out all summer as it is. Nothing new here. Mice? Ditto, they like to scout in the house, but I keep it boring for them. Maybe they'll scout the coop instead.
Zoning? This is sort of a remote area, and if the coop doesn't cause anyone problems, the District is unlikely to have anything to say. I have no neighbours to speak of, and those that I do have live in glass houses, so to speak. And I'm sure they'd enjoy a gift of fresh eggs. I don't carry house insurance, but I'm not sure what an insurance company would care about a coop, supposing I did.
I'll make the coop movable, just in case this great idea isn't so great. Thanks for your advice!
