Hello I feel like I've been to this forum so much lately.

My flock had an accident yesterday afternoon, my mom's husky pup about 5 months ish old got into my pen and mauled 13 out of 20 of my Chickens. 2 pasted over night due to injuries I couldn't help. However o have a more pressing issue I'm afraid.

I have 2 hens Spotty (a speckled sussex) and Dodo (a small astrolop) and 5 roosters left. Most of the roosters seems fine and are clearly in shock but are eating and drinking one seems in more pain then the others but as I cant feel any injuries or and major wounds other then some cuts I assume its Grief mostly. But my hens Im worried about.

Dodo has ate a little and I've seen her drink a tiny bit I'm sure they do more as I can be out with them 24/7 but she wont let me get close enough to look her over she always runs and hides and I cant blame her but because of that fact I assumed she wasn't to bad off.

Spotty however won't eat or drink and im worried about her I offered her food with and away from the others, gave her chin scratches and get comfy on my lap and relax and do beak taps (i think them mean content from what ive read) she has no injuries from what i can see other than a small scratch but she just won't eat I know chickens grieve and I know she is along with the others but should I be worried? Is there anything I can do?

I introduce Poultry Cell to their water to help a bit and sprayed their cuts but she's the only one who won't eat or drink. What can I do to help them?

Pictures below of me checking her today and looking her over she looks so tired typically shes full of life was always one of the first to the feeders and treats also eating everything up she could.... she just mainly slept all day occasionally cuddling with the other hen but wouldn't talk or anything, I've never dealt with them having grief or shock this bad.

Sorry for the long paragraph honestly I'm still in shock and angry but I wanna help the ones left...

You need to provide an electrolyte solution to treat shock. Poultry Cell is not enough to do this. Not treating shock risks having organs shut down, sickness and death. Mix one cup water with one teaspoon sugar and a pinch of salt and baking soda per chicken. Give as the only water source for the next three days.

For any chicken that is not eating or drinking, you must syringe or tube the electrolyte solution into them. This is how you do it without aspirating it into the lungs.

Ok thank you I just woke up so a few questions

1st do I have to use that mixture or should I use a package of it pre mixture i do have that?

2. If they are eating and drinking normally do i have too?

3. Do I have to do it multiple times a day or only once?

And 4. What if I dont have a syringe that small i have like a kids medicine one?

Update all chickens are eating this morning should I give them electrolyte in their water or in a water and a plain water?

Often you can get a small syringe from your local pharmacy for free. Mix the solution, a cup of it per chicken, (if you have ten chickens, then use ten cups of solution) and make it the only water source, like one big bowl.
Oh cool I didnt know that about the syringe thank you! (Had chickens for years but this year everything had caught up to me lol mites, prolapsed vent, now this lol 😅)

I put out about 9 cups in their 3 gallon water I have 7 but figured that way everyone can get some til I can get the syringe later in about an hour or 2. I visual saw all of them take a good couple of sips some more then others, I just got my ring camera for them set up today so im checking that as well to see whos drinking/eating more. Will do all of them but want to prioritize

Two more questions if you dont mind thank you so much for all the help.

In the photo which part is the throat and which is the lungs?

And How long should I do the treatment you said it can last weeks how will I know when they are better?

You will offer the solution for at least three days.

There are two tubes going from a chicken's throat, one in the center of the throat behind the tongue going into the lungs. You want to stay clear if that. The other is the tube on the chicken's right side of their throat which goes directly into the crop, as shown in the above photo.

By inserting the syringe into the right side of the beak, staying to the right side of the throat, the syringe contents can then be safely pushed into the esophagus which goes right into the crop without getting anywhere near the trachea and into the lungs.

If you ever need to tube feed a sick chicken, this is also where you would insert the tube into the crop.

Alright again thank you so much I really appreciate it. This is my first time dealing with it to this degree

The tube feeding idea honestly makes me nervous though so unless its the last option ill probably try to avoid it.

Any tips for getting them to hold still and let me do it? Im only worried about one or two fo them freaking out really badly. And if the solution does get into their air way by accident from freaking out what do I do?

Sorry for more questions I just am really nervous about the whole idea of it and I wanna make sure I know what to do
