Our daughter left the gate open to our coop this morning and the dogs got in and killed 18 of our 33 chickens before they were caught. My question is do I need to keep my surviving chickens inside the henhouse for a couple of days to recover and feel safe before letting them roam in the run, or should I continue to let them out into the run in the mornings as usual? I just want them to be happy, and I know that it was an ordeal being chased by dogs and watching their comrades get killed. The dogs have found new homes with friends since they have now had a taste of fresh chicken.

I would let them out in the run, and give them treats etc.

But yes, it will take them awhile to recover from the shock.
