puffy cheeks

I have had my two week old ducklings sneezing, clear fluids running out their nostrils and one has a puffy cheek. The vet has recommended Tylan antibiotics that can be prescribed from all vets. mix just LESS than one level teaspoon with 1 litre of water and give to them for 7-10 days or as vet prescribes and should clear up as tylan is for all respiratory and sinus infection problems. we are on day 4 of the antibiotics so fingers crossed it works! we also bath them every day to make sure they dip their heads under the water to clear and blow their noses. hope this helps

YEP, that's the recommendation. You can give it orally as well as long as you know the weight size..

But understand in this duckies case, he's not sneezing, so we need to unlodge what's in there before anything... My guess is once his nostils are clear, all that puffiness will drain out and he'll be back to normal, but if it doesn't all drain out then YES, I agree tylan for him.

I believe he is with others and probably don't want everyone to have the antibotics, he could be separated but that's a little challenging because I know ducks dont like to be alone.. so in this case I would be doing it orally. Orally is probably the best because ducks LOVE water and they will splash it everywhere and even though they may get some of it down with it in there drinking water.. But most of it will be wasted by them doing that chopping thing they do with drinking water.. LOL

So to make sure he gets the right dose, orally would be the best recommendation in my opinion... Then none of it is not being wasted...

I hope when the OP comes in from haying he/she appreciates all the detective work Sherlock!
