puffy crop

I have Silkie chickens and I'm a new chicken mom. Is their crop supposed to be full feeling? I swear I can feel the scratch in every one of them. It isn't stretched tight, and they are all running around fine, but it is a little creepy. I make sure they have plenty of grit to eat, and they only get scratch 1 time a day. Their bedding is a mix of wood shavings and straw.

It is a little creepy, but probably just fine. There are crop issues sometimes but if it is not really big (like you can see it across the yard) and they have energy you are fine. Actually, just the fact that they are all the same should set your mind at ease!

Hi, check them first thing in the morning & make sure their crops are emptying out.
