My buff Orpington has some odd puffiness and discoloration of her eyelids. She seems fine. Is this something that needs to be addressed or just leave it alone?

Hi ,
She seems to me like she's having
Mycoplasma which is the main cause of swallon eyes / eyelids

Do she have any other symptoms like
Runny nose , sneezing , coughing ?

I would give baytril® but as long as the laying process concerned I would suggest Tylan
Or Doxycycline

The description at link below seems way worse than what she’s got. She is healthy and laying and just has the eyelids a little puffy. Unless it evolves over the next week and gets worse? They haven’t been out to graze much the past week or two with the recent cold snap so we are not sure how long it’s been like that. Is there anything else it could be? If it is a mild case does it always progress or could she clear it on her own if left alone?

Has she been pecked around her eyelids? Perhaps she was pecked when they weren’t getting outside a lot during bad weather? I would clean them if they have drainage or crust, and apply some antibiotic ointment twice a day into the eyes. Terramycin or Vetroplycin are 2 that may be found at feed stores or online. I have used plain Neosporin in a pinch.

Thanks yall. Update: still the same discoloration and puffiness, maybe slightly less than before. Definitely no eye discharge or respiratory symptoms. Have left her alone as don’t have any drops handy so think we will let this heal on its own. Does not appear infected?

Do you have any plain Triple Antibiotic Ointment or Neosporin Ointment? Saline is also good to use to flush eyes, and easy to find in a drugstore—or make you own. Add 1 teaspoonful of table salt to 16 ounces of water in a saucepan, and bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes, then cool to room temperature.
