Pullet got scalped

I dont recommend peroxide. Itll hurt a lot and probably isnt necessary.

Do you have someone who could give you a hand tomorrow to clean it better and get us some pictures?

Yea I had my wife give me a hand today. I tried trimming the feathers but couldn't get that much done. She was moving too much and my hands shake too much. The pullet was not cooperative at all today. She's very stressed out right now. When I cleaned the wound yesterday I put the Neosporin on to vacuum seal the flesh flap back on. It worked, but she must have bumped it because the flap twisted a little. Overall it looks like it will be healed enough in a couple of days. As for pictures, I couldn't get enough feathers trimmed to be able to see anything since the flap is staying in place now.

That's great news! Normally I'd suggest wrapping her in a towel and covering her head to calm her down, but obviously that wont work for this injury. Great job managing. Keep an eye and nose out for signs of infection since you didnt get the inside thoroughly cleaned before you sealed it back up. And just remember, no ones gunna judge her scar so the flap lining up doesnt have to be perfect. Any amount of the skin her body can reuse is great. I'm glad you have a supportive wife ready to lend a hand!

P.S. Unless your birds are normally completely docile when you handle them, I tend to think them fighting you is a good sign. It's when they just sit there and dont fight that I get nervous. Its great when you and the bird come to an understanding where they're clearly like... I dont like this but I'll allow it. As opposed to just being too weak to fight.

This happened to one of my pullets once.

Had to keep her in a separate cage from the others for quite a while, but she healed and is perfectly fine now, her head just looks a little funky. Chickens are amazing, she’ll probably be fine.
