My cochin/silkie girl demonstrated her first big voice today. She has been "clucking" awile but today had her first BAK BAK BAK BA-GAWK!!And boy was it loud and long. Is this the egging song? Does it mean she may be laying soon? She was given to me and, although very young, I'm not exactly sure of her age.

My barred rock that was the first layer started with the egg laying song a couple weeks before her first egg that was layed at 20 wks.

Good luck with yours. Some of my girls do the song while laying and others are quiet.

My girls found their big voice about a month ago and no eggs yet.

By big voice, I mean BIG!! They went from cheeping to clucking before I got them. My EE's are 12 weeks and one has just started clucking and the others are still cheeping, but not as often.

This song can be heard in the front yard (from the back yard). It is distinctive, and did I mention....loud?

I was about to search this !
My barred rock used to trill and all of the sudden she sounds like a qwacking duck! And if her pal my RIP leaved her she is qwacking all over the yard looking for her buddy!

It is really loud...worry about my neighbors who don't know hearing that!

Will she quiet down or start the bok bok?
