Poor little thing! I see what looks like a scab under the eye(?) hopefully it's just an injury and will heal soon. Even eye injuries can get infected, so you are doing what I would do, keeping the eye rinsed and applying ointment.

Thanks. I feel so bad for her.Poor little thing! I see what looks like a scab under the eye(?) hopefully it's just an injury and will heal soon. Even eye injuries can get infected, so you are doing what I would do, keeping the eye rinsed and applying ointment.
I hope she starts feeling better. Have you noted any pus in the eye?Update:
Canela's still in the bathroom today. Her swollen eye is still severely swollen but she's keeping it open today which is a step in the right direction. Her poop, which she graciously left in the bathroom sink last night, was normal and healthy looking, not too much water and in a shade well within 'normal'; I didn't think to photograph it before rinsing it down the drain. I'm concerned that she's not eating (or eating much)... I see where she's dumped food out of the dish onto the floor, but I don't see a decrease in volume of feed. I finger fed her some raw egg yolk last night, she took a few 'sips' off of my fingers greedily, but seemed uninterested when I put the dish with the rest of the egg down for her; it was untouched this morning. If she looks better tomorrow and if she's eating, then I'll let her go back with her mates.
Thank you for your well wishes, and no, no pus in the eye at all, only thing in her eye is the neosporin type of medication (without pain meds). She's been tolerating the application of medication and handling very well. Yesterday, even with the medication on/in her eye she was reluctant to open it. Today, her eye is open, still swollen but she's using it and keeping it open. I'd give aspirin for pain, but she weighs just over one pound (fully grown), and breaking off the right size (25mg/pound of bird) from a normal sized adult aspirin would be tricky. Do you think I should try for it anyhow?I hope she starts feeling better. Have you noted any pus in the eye?
You could put the aspirin in her water but I would probably sweeten it a bit to make it more palatable. I would also make some fresh water available too, since some chickens just will not drink water with anything in it.Thank you for your well wishes, and no, no pus in the eye at all, only thing in her eye is the neosporin type of medication (without pain meds). Sounds like a yummy meal! I like to give a little something special when they are not feeling well. For me, if they will eat something, then at least I feel betterFed my girl some leftover white rice that I had cooked in coconut milk; served some leftover rotisserie chicken on the side in tiny bite size pieces. Dipped one of the meat pieces into the pulverized aspirin. The tablet was of the 500mg variety so it only needed a tiny bit of that powder. I feel better knowing that I'm trying to ease her pain as well as her infirmity, afterall, I want her to like me when we get done with all this! She gobbled the meat and rice, but pays little to no attention to her normal feed, even when using my famous yogurt drizzle on it! I guess if you're not feeling well, then food needs to be super-duper yummy to garner a second glance
Unable to thank you enough for being both moral support and instructor to me through this.
