We have two 26-27 week old Bovan hens that are each laying one egg a day. Eggs were normal until about 3-4 weeks ago. Twice since then, one of the hens has laid an egg with no shell. Just the white and yolk with a membrane. Also some of her normal eggs have a sandy feel to the shell. The shell is hard but feels like it has fine sand on it. The other chicken's eggs have been normail the whole time.

Is this something to be worried about?

Are they on layer feed? It has calcium added to help them develop the shells. If so you may need to give them access to oyster shell. I grind up eggshells and let them have them too. I've read that it just happens sometimes also. Hope this helps and good Luck
