Hi guys!

One of my pullets, Coconut, started laying months after her sisters. She's been laying for only a fortnight or so now and she often lays two eggs a day! One at around 10am and another around 2pm! Just wondering if anyone could give me any information on multiple egg laying? Is there anything I need to do to support her, such as provide her with additional nutrition? Thanks!

Are you positive she is laying 2 eggs in a day?

Not unusual in the first week or so, but not so much after that.....
.....and usually one of those 2 eggs is a soft or very thin shell.

Hi guys, thanks for your feedback! Snowpeeostrich she is ISA brown x Australorp! Thanks for the suggestion, I give her shell grit but I'll find a calcium supplement for her! Not sure how long this will continue for.. lol!

Aart I'm absolutely sure! Her eggs are different than my other layers and I've witnessed her do it on several occasions! None of her eggs have been thin or soft shelled, they've all been regular eggs. No variations or deformities to the shells. I'm so puzzled!! My understanding is that this is quite unusual. She only laid once yesterday, which is good! I'm worried about how laying twice a day will affect her. :S

Our EE, about nine months old, skips a day, then lays two eggs within 8-12 hours of each other, once or twice a month. Other than that, she typically lays once a day. Both double day eggs are perfect, and she doesn't seem to be distressed. I will say our girls have a pretty cushy life.

Well, unless one of the other girls is secretly an EE, it's true, because they are both light green, and she's the only EE. We put them in the coop at 6 pm, checked for eggs, let them out the next day at 10 am, and there were two greenies.

I also have a very young pullet that is laying twice a day. She is a New Hampshire Red and the only one that lays the brown eggs, so I know it is her. I have 6 hens and will have 7 eggs. So neat, but strange all at the same time!
