One of our hens hatched thesonths ago. The father is a Rhode Island red and we believe the hen a gold laced Wyandotte. One of the chickens has dveloped some nice tail feathers like that of a rooster. The other chicken is much stockier but has no tail feathers yet. I'm guessing that we have two cockrels.

Cockerel. I can see shiny wing and back feathers, which is a male trait. His mother is likely the Wyandotte as he has a rose comb.

Thank you. Our other offspring of same breeds (Rhode Island red and Wyandotte) is a day younger but does not have tail feathers. I'm hoping he grows some.

Shiney wing fathers isnt so much of an indication as feather shape is. I've got plenty of hens with iridescent feathers on wings, breast, neck and tail. Tail feathers come in last for males on a lot of breedsYour feathered friend there is standing like a cocky little cockerel, but as previous posters said, a better pic would go a long way to confirm or disprove :)
