Well, silkies have that soft spot and we kicked her out today for pecking at another of my silkie’s heads... the other was 7 months and he was fine before the scuffle that morning!Sprite appears to be a pullet to me. I also believe your Silkie roo's death was coincidental. How old was he?

Silkies almost never have a fair advantage with standard size breeds. They're lovers, not fighters.
It is 2-3 sq ft full sized hens inside the coop, 4 sq ft in the run per full sized chickens. My coop is 36 sq ft... with 5 small silkies and one 6 mo old EE... there was plenty of room...Pertaining to space - My understanging, minimal spacer per chicken is 4 sq ft in the coop & 10 sq ft in the run.
