Purely out of curiosity... How old is the gal on the right?

i think 19 weeks...

I was thinking that yeah I'm going to lean towards cockerel that being said definitely much more pointy hackles then my girl deltas this is her at 19 weeks, hopefully I'm wrong though.View attachment 2507196

Lis86! I’m (hesitantly) hopping on the pullet Olivia train. Her feathers to me seem very rounded and the comb/wattles could just mean she’s coming up to lay. I’m not sure what this crowing business is though.

Me too, but the crowing is certainly not the same as the sounds the others are making when they are laying.

Delta is 38 weeks and has been laying since 21 weeks .

This is the best one I got for looking at the feathers I think

The only thing that I can see that looks remotely "cockerely" is the tail feathers, but that is not an accurate way to sex a bird, and everything else screams pullet. Are you positive it's that one doing the crowing?

Am I correct to assume you don't have any cockerels or roosters? It's not unheard of for a dominant hen to begin crowing.

No roosters here, I'm hoping that is what it is. It would break my daughter's heart if we need to give Olivia (Or Oliver should I say) away.

Well, I do believe that is the case. But time will tell if I am wrong and you do have yourself a little cockerel. Eggs should be coming soon which will confirm it. Keep us updated. If Odd believes there is chance you have a cockerel I think it is worth waiting it out, she's generally not usually wrong. Though, I am pretty confident you have a girl this time around.

Fingers crossed for a girl, it makes me feel better if it is even a chance, i was convinced otherwise.
