This morning my pullet was making a noise that sounded like an egg song. She is not laying yet. Do they practice before laying eggs? I caught it on video but I'm not sure how to share videos

I have heard that sound when there is a predator around.... but what do I know - I am new to chickens and the last time I heard that noise was when a fox got my poor Roos
We dont Get many predators around here so maybe it was a crow or bug bunnyI have heard that sound when there is a predator around.... but what do I know - I am new to chickens and the last time I heard that noise was when a fox got my poor Roos
My Silkie Pullet makes a Bok Bok Bok noise prior to laying and egg and then shortly afterwards. I should record it tomorrow and post, if I get a chance.
Oh ok. Good to know. I'm thinking I'm gonna get some eggs by the end of the weekCould be practicing (most likely), or could be an alarm call, but it's hard for our human ears to tell the difference.
Hmm that's I tf interesting... I wonder if get will copy other behaviorsRight after I watched your video my Henny-Penny squawked just like your hen! and then laid and egg hahaha - I never heard her do that before laying before, but wonder if she heard my playing your video (my office is in the barn here and they hear everything).
She hasn't done that particular call since though and has reverted to her original squawking. I have noted that one of my other Silkies has started to do the same squawk as Henny and squatting when I go to pick her up... soon more eggs? Hope so!
Is your chicken 'squatting' when you go to touch or pick her up? My Henny-Penny started that a few weeks before she started laying her eggs.Oh ok. Good to know. I'm thinking I'm gonna get some eggs by the end of the week![]()
