Pullet with prolapse.... First egg.

Diva is in my lap chilling. She started getting calcium last evening. She's already trying to prolapse again. She will be back at the vet Friday morning.
I'm sorry. Did the vet give a diagnosis? Did Diva lay that egg or wasn't that the issue?

Oh Larry, I'm sorry. Calcium citrate +D3 is even better (faster) if you have that on hand. She can swallow a whole one, just pop it in her beak. Other than that, I don't have any experience with prolapse like this. :hugs Stand by for the Educators.
How often should she get these? She's had 2 about 24 hours apart. She started straining again late today like she is trying to lay again. The vet removed the first egg.

The egg was lodged in a pocket inside the canal and she couldn't move it. I may have to travel much farther away to get an egg laying prevention medication in her. Will know Friday.

It's usually advised to give them daily for 5 to 7 days to help them pass an egg if they're eggbound, of if they're passing soft or shell-less eggs. It sounds like your Diva's eggs are dropping into a pouch next to the cloaca rather than exiting through the vent, as they should. If that is the case, I wonder if a surgical intervention might be what's needed to re-direct the egg through the proper channel? Just guessing here, though, Larry. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I just hope that we can get the production of eggs stopped.

I'm glad to hear she's home, but it sounds like she's trying to expel another egg. This is not uncommon when there's a prolapse and/or a stuck egg, often another 1-2 are on the way.

I'd give the Calcium Citrate+D3 once daily, hopefully she'll be able to expel the egg. It sounds like she may have some type of shell gland defect, but it's hard to know.

Let us know what you find out at the Vet on Friday.
