Sometimes it can take a while for chickens to lay, while some mature more quickly reaching layer age quicker. Much like the process of all animals. You can have a hen that will not lay an egg in her life, but it is a very rare condition. Others may not lay until up to a year old, as it is very variable between breeds and individual chickens. Patience is key. I'm sure they'll start laying soon. In the meantime don't feed them layer feed, as the build up of extra calcium is bad for their kidneys'.Turns out the other white pullet was the blue layer, not this oneI sold her since I was convinced it was Opal (previously known as Muffy) that was laying the beautiful blue eggs....
BUT this pullet of mine and the black sister I kept, both definitely female, despite being over 7 months old and that their other sister layed back in April.... STILL aren't laying! Tight little bums! They're beautifully healthy but NO eggs from either.![]()
I don't use layer feed, as I've always got a few young'uns and a cockerel or two, but that's always good advice!Sometimes it can take a while for chickens to lay, while some mature more quickly reaching layer age quicker.
