Pullet with swollen waddle and face

So I went to do my evening walk around and found one of my pullets with a slightly swollen face and wattles. I checked and did not see any obvious mites or ticks and as of now no nasal discharge or trouble breathing. I have not changed anything in their diet either. Any ideas on what this could be and how to treat? I would like to get on top of this right away before it gets worse so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

If it was a wasp or bee sting, you could use a q-tip and dab some baking soda and water on the area.
I also read that if your chicken is having an alergic reaction you can give childrens benadyl with a dropper. The dose would depend on the age and size of your bird. If she is having trouble breathing that may be it.
Please read more posts ondosage and how to give fluids to a chicken with a dropper as getting it in the lungs will be bad.

What are the bloody marks from? Has she been pecked, stung by mosquitoes, or injured? How has she been acting up to this point? Is she walking and acting normal otherwise? Or showing signs of sickness or weakness? Has she been eating or drinking? You can give her 1/4 to 1/2 of a benadryl 25 mg tablet one time, to see if it helps the swelling. I would also offer her a few drops of Poultry NutriDrench and some fresh water.

What kind of ants do you have? Could it have picked around on food thats they were on? In west Texas we have fire ants and they can really be painful.

Thank you all for your replies. I don't know that it was a sting, I can't see anywhere that looks like a stinger had punctured her. She has been acting normal, eating and drinking, just overall acting like a chicken. The bloody spots to me look like maybe she was scratching her face and opened it from her nail or possibly another chicken pecked at it. Its hard to say. I'm putting Neosporin on that to help heal it . I will give her some benadryl and some nutri drench and see how it goes and hopefully tomorrow I can see some improvement by morning. I'm wondering if I should start her on a respiratory antibiotic just because I've read that it can be a symptom of respiratory illness and I'm wondering if maybe this is just the start of things?

We do have red and black ants here but I didn't see any around the food.

If she had been acting normal before, I would hold off on antibiotics, since it doesn’t sound like respiratory. Watery eyes or foam, nasal drainage, swelling around the face, gasping or wheezing can be signs. Her swelling sounds like it could be pecking or stings, so I would hold off on AB’s.

Just went and gave her nutri drench and a dose of benadryl. When I gave the benadryl I noticed the tip of her tongue was white like maybe its thrush. Does that cause swelling of the face and wattles? I do have some medistatin on hand.
