Pullet's comb is completely black

This one I imagine is going to stump most. I have a 4 month old Black Copper Maran pullet whose comb is completely black and has never really grown and developed like the others. I will include a picture. Any ideas what could have or could be causing this? Also do you think this is hormonal or could affect her ability to lay eggs? Out of the 4 BCM chicks I got this year 3 were Roosters!

How old is she? I've seen this in a few young Black Sex-Link pullets before. Once they approach laying age, their combs grow out a bit and redden up nicely. If the others were roos, that would explain why their combs took off quicker.

It's called gypsy face, and as they mature, it usually fades. It's caused by melanizing genes that are frequently present in black birds.

So you don't think it will affect her ability to lay eggs?

Not at all. It's purely a cosmetic thing.
