In the Brooder
Hello,
So this year we have lost 5 pullets all having similar symptoms and can't figure out why.
The first chick we lost was a week old, had light neon green poop, was largic and did not want to eat and died. We got her from a local breeder.
A few weeks later we lost two around 6 weeks old, we found them both dead in the mini coop. Did not see anything wrong before death when we found them they were VERY skinny. Thought they were bullied off food. These hens came from one a feed store, and a local hatchery that orders from larger hatcheries.
Chicken Math, then, at the beginning of summer I lost my 6 week old splash americana, I noticed her laying down, separated her, she had brownish-red diarrhea. She was wobbly too. So I treated with corrid, she wanted to eat and drink for two days, then the next days she did not, couldn't stand, and just died while I was petting her. She was very skinny as well. We got her from a chicken trade days from a breeder.
Last night we lost out BCM that we got at the same time as the splash. Last week I saw round worms in their poop, wormed them all based on weight 1/4 ml per 5 lbs for 4 days with SafeGuard Goat Wormer. On Saturday she was happy running in the yard, healthy. Sunday evening her tail was down, her eyes were closing and she wanted to sit. I brought her inside, and gave her electrolytes she was thin, but not skinny. On Monday morning she was a little worse, did not want to stand, sleeping a lot. She did not want to eat but wanted to drink if we gently booped her nose in the water. We gave her a shot of antibiotics (Tylan 50), when I got home for work she was sitting and had a good amount of white and green poop diarrhea around her. I wanted to give her nutri-drench since she was not eating and she fought me on it, which I thought was a good sign. When my fiance got home he hold her gently and we were getting ready for a second shot of antibiotics. Well unfortunately she fought us, and we paused, then she started to seize. We put her down and she had a violent seizure and passed away moments later. We got her from a chicken trade days from a breeder.
What is going on? Any ideas? To much differences? We feed a locate layer feed mixed with grit and scratch. Water cleaned daily. We are in North Texas, so I give electrolytes off and on, not really regular. The laying hens are doing great, it is just a younger ones.
Thank you so much in advance.
