pullets in quarantine--one with bad sneeze. please advise next step

Hi, I'm having the same problem with some Marans I bought last Friday -here in the UK. One started shaking her head and giving a sharp cluck or could be a sneeze. This was every minute or so. Now a second bird started doing it yesterday (Sunday). I spoke to a vet today and he said if it's a virus it will most likely clear up on its own but to watch for any signs of deterioration. So far they look healthy with bright eyes, good appetites and normal chicken behaviour. I'm just watching at the moment. Do let me know how you go on and I'll do the same. Strange that we've both got Marans.

Hi,
My Maran pullets that I got last Friday, are still sneezing but not as much. They seem healthy otherwise so I'm going to monitor them and keep up the acv in the water. Seems just about everybody uses acv so I will too. The avian vet I spoke to said that chickens often get viral respiratory problems that clear up on their own, so unless things get worse I'll just keep up the monitoring. Clean food and drinking containers are important to cut down on the risk of secondary infections. I've also bought some maggots from the fishing shop and give a few of them every so often. The hens love them and greedily fight each other to gobble them up. It can only do them good.
Let us know how your Marans progress.

i am still watching and waiting.

poop looks good (normal

anyway), sneezing has diminished some. i am going to wait until just before i have to have the coop for the chicks and decide then based on how the pullets look and sound whether to medicate or rehome or cull. i do know i will NOT be in this situation again...it's terrible trying to make a decision like this. live and learn!
