Will older chickens kill pullets that are introduced to the flock?
Quote:If you had some particularly nasty chickens, I suppose they could...if you are worried about it, wait until the pullets are almost full sized, and make sure you have enough room for them to get away from, and/or hide from the older birds...I've had some minor fights, but never any deaths, or even wounds.
I hope they wont because we dont have the space to house pullets we have enough space for them unitl they are two months old
What I did with mine when they hit 8 weeks was put a giant-size dog crate in the coop with the big girls (I only put 4 in at a time) for a few weeks, and MOST everyone got along when I let them out. The only real issue I had was one of my GLW's tried to be in charge...boss hen held her down by her head until she stopped struggling...no more problems!
They can be pretty merciless on younger chickens. Here is some good advice from the "Learning Pages" on integrating new chickens.
