I think you’re right on point whith that. Last night was the first time I saw Sweetie (the RIR in question) eat the OS. She’s didn’t get it as fast as the others did. Thank you for your help.

I appreciate this post. Also being new to chickens I have had questions about them laying. Have two that lay perfect eggs everyday and have since they started a month ago. One the lays eggs every couple days but usually lays double or triple yolk eggs and...the problem: one that lays every thin shelled eggs from the roost at night which of course drop to the poop boards and break. The rest haven't started laying yet. Sounds like patience is the answer?!
Update:
Just to show you how deceiving these little nuggets could be.
It turns out that the one with the soft shell/rubber egg was Peewee (not so PeeWee anymore) my Cuckoo Maran while Sweetie -RIR is taking her “ sweet” time. She’s definitely ready and today she was hogging the nest (they have 3 and are only 8 pullets) for a good 2 hours.
So here it is:
Buffy (Light Leghorn) resumed to laying her cute white eggs with no problems.
Ruby (RIR) is an egg laying machine.
Lulu (EE) has been giving me the most beautiful green eggs.
PeeWee (CM) has been laying perfect beautiful reddish brown eggs.
The big surprise today was Curly Sue’s first egg. She is my only female duck. She’s a White Crested.
The only thing I did different as per the suggestions of the wonderful people here is that I added Oyster Shells to their treats so this way they start eating them.
I hope this helps.
Here is a pic of today’s eggs.
