That's what the farmer said who I got them from. Although, this is the same guy who sold me four pullets and so far 2 and maybe 3 have turned out to be cockerels....Are you sure the EE is 20 weeks old? Barred rock is a handsome cockerel.
I agree! Also, I agree with you clubber! They are really pretty! The Cuckoo Maran is a cockerel and the Blue Ameraucana is definitely a pullet. Pretty chickens!![]()
He's not sexing correctly. Maybe try another farmer! That's what the farmer said who I got them from. Although, this is the same guy who sold me four pullets and so far 2 and maybe 3 have turned out to be cockerels....
This is what I was hoping to see someone write lol. I am holding out hope that it's a pullet. Acts like a pullet and the comb is usually much paler and kind of blushes red when excited and when she's calm, goes back to a more pale color. I already had to re-home it's sibling because it was much more obviously a cockerel. The BR's comb just isn't all that red, or large, i think. Plus, it's darker in color. I would wait on it. Post pics of the comb and saddle at 12 weeks.
The EE is a pullet
It was hard to tell because i got rid of it when it was 6 weeks old and it had a large red comb. This one by comparison at 6 weeks had a small comb with no red at that time. I have a 8 week old australorp (same age as my barred bird) which is clearly a pullet and is already getting red in her tiny comb so I'm not that concerned with the coloring of the comb anymore. I am pretty sure it's a pullet I just got worried because a lot of people think it's a cockerel. Was the brother as wide striped as this barred bird? The barring looks like a possible pullet. Also if the farmer had multiple breeds the yellow legs do not make it a barred rock. It is what ever barred bird (most likely rooster) he had crossed with a yellow legged bird.
