I have had chickens for several years now. All of them have been hand raised with a handful of additions every year. This year, on top of my normal purchase from the feed store, my son took home three chicks his class hatched in an incubator. I’m hoping they are all hens, but I’m not positive at this point. I have only had one rooster (not counting bantam Roos) and he was visibly a rooster almost right from the get go. These three are 8 weeks old now and do not have the large comb or wattles my other rooster had, but at least two of them seem to have a reddish tinge to their combs. Are they likely hens with such small combs at this age or do I have a couple of slow developing Roos? Pictures taken at 7 weeks and just over 8 weeks old. Any advice would be appreciated!
