I have a couple of ten week old Splash Marans who when they peep don't actually peep but sound as though they are croaking. I inquired of a friend who raises lots of chickens who suggested they probably have an upper respiratory infection brought on by mosquitoes biting them. I have been treating my entire flock with Duramycin (Tetracycline) in their water for the past eight days and there's no improvement in their voices really. They eat and drink and do chicken play in their coop and run area. They don't even seem listless or sick, just sound odd. They have no other symptoms that I can tell.

I don't have a clue....anyone want to chime in on my issue. Would appreciate some input!

I thought the same thing when my birds voices changed. Its still strange to me but I suppose its normal for voices to change. I'd keep an extra close eye on them just incase they develop any symptoms but other wise its likely normal voice change. Just watch to make sure no other symptoms arise. Best wishes

I've thought that as they got older their voices might be changing but I never noticed that with the first group of pullets I got. It's also strange that only these two out of 17 would have a "puberty" thing going on! It's almost like they are roos when they begin to crow.

Oh well, thanks for answering my query Aldo and realsis.

Good luck, keep an eye out i'm sure you have nothing to worry about, and If you ever have any questions feel free to pm me anytime :) Your welcome
