I have 2 5 week old pullets who won't go down the ramp into their run by themselves. The first few days we picked them up and put them in the run and but them back into the coop at night. Now we are just letting them figure it out themselves...BUT.. they aren't getting it obviously...they have been in the coop for 3 days straight now. Should I help them along and guide them down or just let them figure it out in time.

put them on the ramp in different places so they get used to walking on it. They'll figure it out. Unless they are silkies, in which case I just gave them to someone else who didn't mind those IQ-challenged birds

My chicks are about the same age and I have the same problem. They have been in the coop over a week but do not readily exit the coop and enter the run.

My run does not yet have a top, so I have only been opening the hen-door when I can supervise. Each of the three times they have been out, I have had to throw them out of the coop and put them back in.

I figure they just need a little more time to figure it out???
