pumkins do I feed it raw? is it really good for them?

My younger chickens LOVE pumpkin! The older ones not so much. But today I cut open a pumpkin, took out most of the seeds & oohey gooey insides & ground them up in the magic bullet & mixed in buttermilk with them.

Then, I took the dish of buttermilk pumpkin seeds out there & they were ALL fighting over it! They LOVED it!! It was gone in like 2 minutes! I also put out the rest of the pumpkin for whoever wanted it to have at it. Of course, the young ones ate almost all of it. I'm sure they will finish it off tomorrow morning.

Thanks All!!!

Mine don't go crazy for it. They eat the seeds & guts, pick at the rest for a little while. Then, I forget it's out there and the chocolate lab eats the rest, shell and all. That dog will eat anything, and has: wood chips, all food items, chicken feed, and fire ant killer--that one cost about $200 in vet bills.

I just throw mine up in the air and let them crash open on the ground--as long as they bust open and don't roll down the hill the birds are on them as soon as they hit. Those that don't open I have to chase after.
