Pup choice? Male or Female?

As a kid, we always had male dogs.... 4 of them from the time I was tiny until I left home.

We now own a beautiful female. I'd never go back to a male dog again.

We prefer boys.
We have one girl at the moment and I do not like dealing with her hormonal b*tchy behavior. I will only have one female at a time in my house.
The boys have not displayed ANY of the male behavior people talk about. No marking, humping, aggression ect. We have had both neutered and intact, still they never have displayed these behaviors.

Actually, besides our boxer, at the moment we also have two male labs: Yellow lab and black lab. Our neighbors, who just so happen to be one of three houses on our farm (the third being grandparents: family farm!) have a male bishon frise!

I wasn't allowed to have male pets when I was young and living at home...my mom didn't want any marking or humping LOL. We stumbled on a male puppy and then some male cats......I actually prefer males now.

I have a boy cat currently. I have 2 girl dogs and 2 boy dogs. The personality differences are probably more to do with the individual dog than the sex of that dog....however my boys are the sweetest and most completely dedicated to the family. They would kill to protect us. Okay maybe not, since they are big goobers, but they are absolutely committed. The girls sometimes I think they could just give me the finger and go on their way. My girls are much less trustworthy on housetraining too. Sigh.

For my inside dogs, I prefer females because they're usually mellower. For my guard dogs, I prefer male because they are more territorial & will have more agression.

47 years in this house we have had 6 indoor dogs. 2 male and 4 female. One of the males a GSD was the best dog that I have ever known. The other a miniature poodle was the worst dog that I have ever been associated with. Of the females a malamute/husky was a sweetheart but also an incorrigible runaway. The other three were (one still is) goldens and they are basically clones. Over this same span of time, I have owned hundreds of beagles. Right now I have 15, four females and eleven males. Of those 15 the three with the greatest personalities are one female and two of the males. One of the males is my greatest ego boost. He is the most intelligent of the lot and still he thinks that I am the greatest. I guess I have had great dogs of either sex. Some I love, some I like, and some I tolerate. They sort of regard me in the same way.

I seem to get along better with the boys but I have a young female now that I just adore. She's a little feisty but happy as a clam and never bi... in a bad mood.
